Mint Julep Experiences hosts the Derby Eve Bourbon & BBQ Throwdown at Jim Beam Distillery

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 3, 2020) — Ditch the high heels and black ties for a Derby Eve bourbon experience like no other! Mint Julep Experiences is excited to offer the first-ever Bourbon & BBQ Throwdown at the Jim Beam American Stillhouse on Friday, May 1 — the night before the 2020 Kentucky Derby.

This unique event includes an after-hours private distillery tour and tasting at Jim Beam in Clermont, Ky., plus an opportunity to purchase bottles and design your own labels. After the tour, guests will enjoy two signature cocktails (a cash bar will be available as well), appetizers, a full Southern barbecue feast, live music and much more.

Mint Julep Experiences owner and co-founder Sean Higgins explains what went into the planning process for this inaugural event: “We wanted to build on our existing Derby Week adventures and experiences that showcase both bourbon distilleries and horse farms and create something unique that will be a memorable evening for those looking to have a more laid-back, true Kentucky experience before the big race.”

The cost is $249 per person, which includes transportation from Downtown Louisville, the private after-hours Jim Beam Distillery tour and tasting, a Southern barbecue feast, and two signature cocktails. The tour will depart from the Mint Julep Hub located inside the Omni Louisville Hotel, 210 W. Liberty St. The tour departs at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, May 1, and returns at approximately 10 p.m.
