Bardstown Bourbon Company Joins Kentucky Distillers’ Association

September 26, 2016

For Immediate Release – September 26, 2016

bardstown-bourbonFRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Distillers’ Association is honored to announce that the Bardstown Bourbon Company is the newest member of the non-profit trade group that unites and leads the state’s signature Bourbon and distilled spirits industry.

“This is an exciting day for the KDA and our friends in Bardstown, the Bourbon Capitol of the World,” said KDA President Eric Gregory. “We’ve been anxiously awaiting the Bardstown Bourbon Company to start distilling and become a member of our hallowed ranks.

“David Mandell, Steve Nally and the entire BBC team have done an incredible job building this distillery from scratch. They are a welcome and inspired addition to our distilling family and we couldn’t be happier for them and their continued success.”

The $25 million facility is set on over 100 acres of active farmland adjacent to the Bluegrass Parkway in Bardstown near exit 25. Through its Collaborative Distilling Program, the company offers customers the opportunity to create custom, authentic Kentucky whiskey products and provides comprehensive barrel financing.

The Bardstown Bourbon Company started producing whiskey on September 12, 2016.

The distillery will also be home to a Napa Valley-style campus featuring a unique and educational experience, high-end tours and tastings, integrated visitors center, event space, and eventually a restaurant and boutique hotel. Its address is 1500 Parkway Drive in Bardstown.

Nally, the Master Distiller, is no stranger to Kentucky’s distilling scene. A 40-year veteran of the industry, Nally was a former Master Distiller at Maker’s Mark and is a member of the prestigious Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame.

“We are thrilled to officially join the prestigious Kentucky bourbon industry that the KDA works so hard to protect,” said David Mandell, President & CEO. “The KDA has been an integral part in reshaping the regulatory environment that will enable us to prosper and continue to grow.”

Bardstown Bourbon Company plans to open its visitors experience, café, whiskey library, event center and retail store in spring 2017.

Bardstown Bourbon Company joins Kentucky Distillers’ Association as a craft member, but should rise quickly within the association due to their initial 1.5 million proof-gallon capacity and barrel storage on its property for up to 185,000 barrels.

Founded in 1880, the KDA is the state’s voice for Bourbon and spirits issues. Its diverse membership produces 90 percent of the world’s Bourbon, from legendary, global brands to emerging micro distilleries that are building the next generation of the timeless craft.

Kentucky Bourbon is one of the Commonwealth’s most historic and treasured industries, a booming $3 billion economic engine that generates more than 15,400 jobs with an annual payroll topping $700 million and pours $166 million into state and local coffers each year.

The KDA’s world-famous Kentucky Bourbon Trail® and Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour® adventures also set attendance records last year with nearly 900,000 guests touring an all-time high of 19 participating distilleries.

In addition, KDA member distilleries are in the middle of a $1.3 billion building boom, Gregory said, from innovative new tourism centers to expanded production facilities, all to meet the growing global thirst for Kentucky’s signature spirit.

As further proof of the Bourbon renaissance, the KDA recently announced that state distilleries filled nearly 1.9 million barrels of Bourbon last year, the largest amount in nearly a half-century, and paid a record $17.8 million in barrel taxes that fund education and public safety.

There are now 1.5 barrels for every person living in Kentucky.

Gregory said, “We look forward to working more with the BBC team to secure the integrity of our timeless craft and strengthen Kentucky’s rightful place as the one, true and authentic home for Bourbon.”
