FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CADIZ, Ky. – (Feb. 24, 2017) – Bourbon enthusiasts and anyone interested in bourbon history are invited to Lake Barkley State Resort Park on March 31 for a special event that will help the park.

Bill Samuels Jr., president emeritus of Maker’s Mark, will speak during “Bourbon, Beef and BS,” sponsored by the Friends of Lake Barkley. The event starts at 7 p.m. at the park conference center and includes a meal, with beef from Jolly Farm in Cadiz and samples of Maker’s Mark.

Prior to the dinner, Samuels will sign unopened bottles in the lobby of the conference center for ticketholders. Samuels served as president of Maker’s Mark for 35 years before retiring in 2011. Samuels oversaw the growth of Maker’s Mark into a national icon and is the seventh generation to continue the family tradition of bourbon making.

Tickets are $50 a person and seating is limited. Tickets are available at the park’s front desk and from the friends group. A portion of the proceeds will go to the friends group, which carries out projects to support the park.

In addition to a lodge, Lake Barkley State Resort Park includes cottages, the Windows on the Water Restaurant, a seasonal campground, 18-hole golf course, fitness center with indoor pool, marina, fishing, tennis courts, hiking trails, gift shop, and recreational and nature programming. The park is near Cadiz and the Land Between the Lakes, at 3500 State Park Road just off Interstate 24.  Exit at Highway 68.  From the exit go west toward Cadiz and the park.
