Dueling Grounds to launch sales of Linkumpinch Bourbon
Distillery to begin selling Simpson County’s first Bourbon Dec. 1
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Franklin, Ky. (Oct. 16, 2018) – Dueling Grounds Distillery will begin selling its 2-year-old Linkumpinch Bourbon on Dec. 1, a few days prior to the celebration of Prohibition Repeal Day, which took place Dec. 5, 1933.
The small batch is a limited edition, made at the distillery, and available for purchase on a first-come-first-service basis. Doors will open at 10 a.m. on Dec. 1 for the special release of the anticipated Bourbon.
“We shot for a very sweet, very flavorful final product coming off the still,” Dueling Grounds Distillery Owner Marc Dottore said.
The uniquely handcrafted batches of Dueling Grounds Bourbon are double-pot distilled, aged for two years in charred oak barrels, and embody exclusive ingredients of the region.
Dueling Grounds Distillery began operating in Franklin, Simpson County, in 2014. The Bourbon named for Linkumpinch Farm where legendary duels took place, the distillery is the first of its kind since the era of prohibition. The story goes back to Sept. 22, 1826 when Tennessee Representative Sam Houston wounded General William A. White in a pistol duel over the political appointment of the Nashville postmaster. By that time, the dueling grounds had seen more than 40 duels, establishing its place in history.
“I want the Bourbon name to be firmly rooted in this place.” Dottore added. “Linkumpinch Bourbon and Dueling Grounds Distillery are names from Simpson County’s heritage. It is about capturing a sense of place, and a sense of identity.”
The distillery, located at 208 Harding Road, is easily accessible from Exit 6 and Exit 2 on I-65, and holds tours and tastings weekly Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with The Cocktail event every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. featuring inspired artisan beverages.
