Elkhorn Tavern Opens in The Lexington Distillery District at 1200 Manchester Street featuring Cocktails, Bourbon, Wine and Local Beer in a Unique Lodge Like Setting

August 28, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lexington, KY August 8, 2017

Barrel House Distilling Co. announces the grand opening of the Elkhorn Tavern, a full cocktail bar located on site at the distillery.  Work began on the Tavern in July 2016 after the passing of Kentucky Senate Bill 11, which allowed the distillery to serve it’s products as well as others by the drink.  The project also included the doubling of the production space at the distillery, new infrastructure, offices and a new, updated gift shop for guests on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail’s Craft Tour.

The name of the Tavern originates from the Town Branch of The Elkhorn Creek which runs along the property that was home to the James E. Pepper and Henry Clay distilleries for almost 100 years.  It has a rustic, lodge like feel with a wood burning fireplace, taxidermy, copper bar top, leather couches and 2 patios. The Tavern is cocktail focused but also features rotating taps for local beers as well as a selection of wines. The Tavern opens at noon Wednesday through Sunday, closed Monday and Tuesday.

Peter Wright co-founder of Barrel House Distilling Co. said “ This provides a unique opportunity to  enjoy a great cocktail in the same location that the spirits are being produced, which is available in only a handful of places in the entire country.”
