Jeptha Creed Distillery to Celebrate 500th Barrel, Will Honor Vets with Special Events

November 7, 2017

MEDIA ALERT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 6th, 2017

(Shelbyville, KY) Jeptha Creed Distillery is happy to announce it will be filling its 500th barrel on the date of the distillery’s first anniversary—which also happens to be Veteran’s Day. To honor the occasion, Jeptha Creed has invited Iraq War veteran Troy Yocum to fill the 500th barrel and tap in the bung during a special ceremony on Saturday, November 11. The event will begin at 2pm and will be followed by a signing of the barrel by Mr. Yocum and other veterans in attendance. Free tours and discounts on products will also be given to Veterans throughout the weekend.

US Army veteran Troy Yocum hiked over seven thousand miles across America in 2010-2011 to help bring awareness to issues faced by veterans and their families. The hike garnered national attention for veteran suicide awareness, raised $1.3 million for military families, and helped to create the charity named Active Heroes to continue to provide national activities, peer support and resources for military heroes and their families.

“Our family has a deep-rooted commitment to honoring our service members,” said Autumn Nethery, Jeptha Creed Co-owner and Marketing Manager. “Any chance we get to pay them back for all they do for our country, we take it. We couldn’t be happier that our first anniversary falls on Veteran’s Day. It gives us even more incentive to do something special for all those who put their lives on the line for our freedom.”

Jeptha Creed’s first year has been quite a success. It’s spirits are now available all over Kentucky, with plans to continue expansion into neighboring states in the near future. Jammin’ at Jeptha, the distillery’s weekly concert series, has grown in popularity and size, drawing crowds from around the region as well as top talent like country music star JD Shelburne. It also released (in limited run) its first whiskey, Bloody Butcher’s Creed, and has a bourbon set to be released in 2019.
