Libbey Partners with The Kentucky Distillers’ Association
New Kentucky Bourbon Trail® Tasting Glass embraces two great American traditions
TOLEDO, OHIO, May 18, 2017 – (NYSE MKT: LBY) Libbey®, the leader in glassware innovation, has partnered with the Kentucky Distillers’ Association (KDA) and its famous Kentucky Bourbon Trail® (KBT) tour. Together, these influential groups designed a glass specifically for tasting bourbon and bringing out the best aspects of the signature spirit. Now, “The Official Tasting Glass of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail®” * will engage bourbon connoisseurs with the high demands for “America’s Native Spirit.”
“Kentucky Bourbon is a complex, elegant spirit that can be enjoyed so many different ways,” said Adam Johnson, senior director of the KDA’s Kentucky Bourbon Trail Experiences. “We recognized the need for a specific glass to enhance the aroma, flavors and nuances of Bourbon, and we’re proud to partner with Libbey, America’s Glassmaker™, to create the ideal version.”
Master Distillers, Bourbon Barons and other members of the KDA worked with Libbey during an in-depth one-year process to design a glass that meets the needs of the ever-growing market for the Kentucky Bourbon Trail tour and its Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour.
The KBT logo is subtlety etched onto the glass’s base. The glass also features a heavy sham, curved bowl, an ideally sized opening and fine rim, and is stackable to reduce storage space. The combination of these elements creates a glass that delivers a multi-sensory, smooth bourbon tasting experience.
“The combination of the Kentucky Distillers’ Association’s expertise on Bourbon and our insights on glassware design and presentation led to a glass that makes the ultimate Bourbon tasting experience possible,” said Jerry Moore, senior category manager of beverageware for Libbey Inc. “We are proud to lend our expertise to this unique celebration of American ingenuity.”
The KDA recently announced that tourists made a record 1 million visits to its Kentucky Bourbon Trail and Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour distilleries in 2016. The thriving attraction has increased attendance by 300 percent in the last 10 years.
Participating distilleries include Angel’s Envy in Louisville; Bulleit’s Stitzel-Weller Distillery, Louisville; Four Roses, Lawrenceburg and Cox’s Creek; Heaven Hill, Bardstown and its Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, Louisville; Jim Beam, Clermont and Louisville; Maker’s Mark, Loretto; Town Branch, Lexington; Wild Turkey, Lawrenceburg; and Woodford Reserve, Versailles.
