Wilderness Trail Distillery Awarded Kentucky Rum Distillery of the Year, Harvest Rum Awarded Silver Medal At New York International Spirits Competition
For Immediate Release –
November 24, 2015 Danville, KY – Wilderness Trail Distillery’s award winning bourbon barrel aged Harvest Rum has been awarded a prestigious Silver Medal at the 2015 New York International Spirits Competition (NYISC). In addition, Wilderness Trail Distillery was awarded the title of 2015 Kentucky Rum Distillery of the Year by the NYISC.
In its 6th year, the NYISC was held at 3 West Club on October 18th to taste, evaluate, and judge almost 500 of the world’s best-distilled spirits from 35 different countries. Only 46% of entrants were prized, in comparison with up to 85% of entrants at other competitions. “To be awarded a Silver Medal when competing against the best rums from all over the world is such an honor, we beat out some of the biggest names in the Rum world in a blind tasting.” said Shane Baker, Head Distiller and co-founder of Wilderness Trail Distillery. “Using a pot still and locally grown ingredients, we make our Harvest Rum the same way we do our Kentucky Bourbon. The only difference is the Harvest Rum is aged in a used bourbon barrel to get the rich caramel, vanilla, and oak flavors that bourbon is known for to complement the sweetness of the rum.”
