Whiskey Sour & New York Sour
Ingredients
- 2 parts Kentucky Bourbon
- ¾ part fresh lemon juice
- ½ part simple syrup
- Egg white* or ½ part aquafaba (optional)
- Float of red wine (for New York variation)
Instructions
Whiskey Sour, no egg white:
- Add Bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup and ice to a shaker with ice and shake until chilled
- Strain into rocks glass and serve
Whiskey Sour, with egg white*:
- Add Bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup and egg/aquafaba to a shaker without ice and dry shake vigorously
- Add ice and shake again until the shaker is slightly frosted
- Strain into coupe glass, dash bitters into the foam, and serve
New York Sour:
- Add Bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup and ice into a shaker and shake until chilled
- Strain into rocks glass over new ice and top with a slow pour of red wine (pouring gently over the back of a spoon helps to achieve the floating look)
Glassware: if egg - coupe; if no egg - rocks
Served: if egg, up; if no egg, rocks
Garnish: if egg - bitters in foam; if no egg - lemon peel or dehydrated lemon wheel
