Whiskey Sour & New York Sour

Ingredients

  • 2 parts Kentucky Bourbon
  • ¾ part fresh lemon juice
  • ½ part simple syrup
  • Egg white* or ½ part aquafaba (optional)
  • Float of red wine (for New York variation)

Instructions

    Whiskey Sour, no egg white:
  1. Add Bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup and ice to a shaker with ice and shake until chilled
  2. Strain into rocks glass and serve
  3. Whiskey Sour, with egg white*:
  1. Add Bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup and egg/aquafaba to a shaker without ice and dry shake vigorously
  2. Add ice and shake again until the shaker is slightly frosted
  3. Strain into coupe glass, dash bitters into the foam, and serve
  4. New York Sour:
  1. Add Bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup and ice into a shaker and shake until chilled
  2. Strain into rocks glass over new ice and top with a slow pour of red wine (pouring gently over the back of a spoon helps to achieve the floating look)

    Glassware: if egg - coupe; if no egg - rocks
    Served: if egg, up; if no egg, rocks
    Garnish: if egg - bitters in foam; if no egg - lemon peel or dehydrated lemon wheel
