Village Anchor takes ‘Rose Julep’ title honoring Louisville’s best mint julep
Defeats three-time consecutive winning bartender from Varanese

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 25, 2012) — Bartender Kyle Tabler of Louisville’s Village Anchor restaurant claimed the 2012 “Rose Julep” title identifying the mixologist creating the city’s best and most unique mint julep. Tabler was successful in defeating Rory McCollister of Varanese to break his third consecutive winning streak.

The ninth annual Rose Julep Recipe Contest, sponsored by Four Roses Bourbon, was held at the Kentucky Derby Museum on Thursday, April 19. A panel of food and beverage elite judged the competition based on taste, presentation and originality.

Tabler’s winning Rose Julep, “The Village Anchor Trifecta,” calls for:

Rose water rinse of a rocks glass
2 oz Four Roses Single Barrel
½ oz St. Germaine Elderflower Liq.
1 oz of a minced honeysuckle syrup (minced honeysuckle and KY honey)
½ oz Lavender Syrup
Honeysuckle Syrup rim

Stir and serve. Garnish with mint.
