May 16, 2014

For Immediate Release — May 16, 2014

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — World-renowned Tenor Anthony Kearns will perform Saturday evening as part of The Golden Affair, the closing ceremony of this week’s inaugural Kentucky Bourbon Affair, and the Sunday Polo send-off at Louisville Waterfront Park.
“It’s truly an honor to have Mr. Kearns cap off our incredible week showcasing America’s only native spirit,” said Eric Gregory, President of the Kentucky Distillers’ Association. “He’s the perfect complement to this exquisite, high-caliber celebration.”
Kearns first took the American television audience by storm in 1999 as the youngest member of The Irish Tenors, with whom he has five PBS Specials and 10 CDs, many of which have gone gold, platinum and double platinum.
His solo career includes concerts, high-profile celebrity engagements, major television appearances, operas and collaborations with some of the world’s most renowned orchestras. He has had the honor of performing for three U.S. Presidents.
Kearns will sing “My Old Kentucky Home” and a handful of classical and entertaining songs from his new CD, “With a Song in My Heart.” He will also sing the national anthem Sunday at the Affair’s Polo match. Visit www.anthonykearnsmusic.com.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Kentucky which has such strong ties to Ireland,” Kearns said. “I was last there in 2011, but I wouldn’t miss returning to the Bluegrass state and being a part of this grand celebration.”
The Kentucky Bourbon Affair is a five-day Bourbon fantasy camp featuring behind-the-scenes tours and exclusive events at the most famous Bourbon distilleries in the world. It’s the only whiskey event created and executed by the distilleries themselves.
This year’s Affair commemorates the 50th anniversary of Congress declaring Bourbon “America’s only native spirit.” In addition, the KDA has partnered with the Original Makers Club on prestigious opening and closing festivities featuring the unique Bourbon lifestyle.
